32. Life is the Supreme Guru

Qn: We come from America and Britain. The world is falling apart. Can we set it right? Destruction is rampant.

Ans: It has been so always. You can spend an eternity looking for truth and love, intelligence and goodwill, imploring God and man. You cannot change the image without changing yourself.

Qn: So many mystics and saints lived and died. They did not change the world.

Ans: How could they? Your world is not theirs. Conquer your own mind. Go beyond it.

Qn: How did you?

Ans: By the grace of Guru.

Qn: Why should self remembrance bring Self realization?

Ans: Self-remembrance is in the mind, self-realization is beyond the mind. The image in the mirror is of the face beyond the mirror

Qn: Do I need a Guru? What you tell is simple.

Ans: It is not worship of a person but devotion to the task. Life itself is the supreme Guru

Qn: We are congeries of desires and needs, instincts and promptings.

Ans: There are no needs, desires only. Desire to live is fundamental. All else depends on that. We live because we crave sensory existence.

Qn: A thing so universal cannot be wrong.

Ans: In its own place and time, nothing is wrong. Beyond comfort of mind and body what happiness you know?

Qn: Is there?

Ans: Find out. Empty of possessions, physical and mental, free of all self concerns, be open for discovery.

Qn: Is living in proximity of a Saint conducive to liberation? Why don't you organize an Ashram?

Ans: Then I become its prisoner. Have your Guru in the heart. This is dwelling with the Guru.
